Sell nbn under your own brand

Your storefront and customer portal, live in under an hour.MSPs, IT businesses and new providers who want to sell nbn without building anything.

Sound familiar?

  • Referring clients to a telco hands it the relationship, the bill and the fault.
  • White-label platforms put your logo on someone else's portal and someone else's terms.
  • Building a storefront, ordering, billing, legal documents and a customer portal takes months before your first service.

How it works

  1. Switch on your portal

Once your account is set up, turn on your hosted portal and choose its address.

  2. Add your brand

Your name, logo and colours, and your details as the retailer: legal name, ABN, address for notices and support contacts.

  3. Set your prices

A monthly price, inc GST, for each plan you want to sell. A plan you don't price isn't offered, and the margin is yours.

  4. Send the link

Your customers check their address, order and sign in to manage their service. Orders go straight to nbn, with no approval queue.

Live, not a mock-up

These are from The IT Dept's storefront on our network, and a real customer account on it. The customer's address and identifiers are blurred.

  1. A white-label storefront for The IT Dept Pty Ltd showing six nbn plans with monthly prices inc GST.
    The IT Dept's live storefront.

    Your storefront

Your name, your plans at your prices, your ABN and support details, and every compliance document in the footer.

  2. The order flow: a checked address and the plans available there with monthly prices.
Ordering: the address is checked, then the plans available there.

    Address check and order

Your customer checks their address and sees only the plans available there, at your prices. We email them to confirm, then the order goes to nbn.

  3. A customer's active nbn service with plan, price, public IP and order progress. Address and identifiers blurred.
A real customer's service. Address and identifiers blurred.

    Their own portal

Every service and where it's up to, from order placed to connected, with plan changes, the public IP switch and cancellation.

  4. Connection status online, data used this month, and 30-day and 24-hour usage graphs.
    Live connection status and usage.

    Usage and status

Whether the connection is up, what they've used this month, and the last 30 days and 24 hours.

  5. Completed Service Health, NTD Status and UNI-D Status line tests.
nbn line tests the customer ran themselves.

    Line tests before support calls

Your customers run nbn's own tests themselves. Every answered question is a support call you don't take.

  6. Portal settings: switch the portal on, branding, and the retailer's legal name, ABN, address and support contacts.
Your settings: portal, branding and retailer details.

    Your setup

Switch it on, add your brand and your details as the retailer, and set a price for each plan. That's the whole launch.

Who does what

You

  • Sell, and set your prices
  • Own the customer relationship
  • First-line support
  • Your retail obligations: CSP, TIO and the consumer codes

Underlay

  • The storefront and customer portal, hosted
  • Default legal documents and a CIS per plan, filled in with your details
  • Ordering, provisioning and the network
  • nbn escalations, with engineers on every ticket

Billing, today and next.

Today we bill you wholesale every month and you invoice your customers your way. Next, we're integrating with Xero, MYOB and others so your customers' invoices go out from your own accounting system, under your name, and then we'll collect the payments and remit your margin to you.

What stays with you

  • Selling, your prices and the customer relationship
  • First-line support for your customers
  • Your obligations as a retail provider: carriage service provider, TIO membership and the consumer codes

Questions

Whose name is on it?

Yours. You're the retailer: your name, ABN and support details are on the storefront, the documents and the invoices. Underlay appears once, in small print: "powered by Underlay".

Do we need our own legal documents?

No. Customer terms, privacy, complaints handling with TIO escalation, financial hardship, domestic, family and sexual violence, and a Critical Information Summary per plan are provided by default with your details filled in. Link your own to replace any of them.

Do we need to be a carriage service provider?

Yes. Selling nbn to the public under your own brand makes you one, with obligations including TIO membership and the consumer codes. Those stay with you whichever wholesaler you use.

What can our customers do themselves?

Check their address, order, follow the order to connection, change plan, turn a public IP on or off, run nbn line tests, see their usage, update their details, cancel and see their invoices.

Can we use our own systems instead?

Yes. Order and manage the same services through the Business portal or the API, and run your own storefront.
